FAQs

Armorguard Coatings
  • What is the difference between epoxy and polyaspartic/polyurea coatings?

Epoxy is a dense, hard-setting resin that forms a durable bond and provides substantial thickness, which makes it an excellent choice for base coat applications. Polyaspartic and polyurea coatings cure more quickly, maintain their color without UV yellowing, and provide superior flexibility, making them well-suited for topcoat applications or projects requiring fast turnaround times.
  • How long does the installation process take?

A typical residential garage floor requires two to three days for completion. This schedule provides adequate time for surface preparation, base coat application, decorative flake broadcasting, and proper curing of the clear topcoat.
  • How do you prepare the concrete floor before coating?

Proper surface preparation is essential to prevent coating failure. We employ mechanical diamond grinding equipment to open the concrete pores, eliminate old paint or contaminants, and establish the appropriate surface profile necessary for strong adhesion.
  • Can you fix cracks, pits, and damaged concrete?

We can address these issues. Our process includes a thorough inspection of the concrete for cracks, spalling, and surface damage, which we repair using professional-grade epoxy or polyurea fillers prior to applying the primary coating system.
  • When can I walk and drive on the new floor?

The floor is generally ready for foot traffic within eight to 12 hours after application. However, we advise waiting 48 to 72 hours before parking vehicles or positioning heavy objects on the surface to allow the coating to achieve full chemical cure.
  • Will the new floor be slippery when wet?

Coatings with a smooth finish may become slippery under wet conditions. To enhance traction and minimize slip risks, we can incorporate anti-skid additives or textured decorative flakes into the topcoat layer.
  • Do your floor coatings fade or turn yellow in the sun?

Conventional epoxy coatings may yellow or discolor when exposed to direct ultraviolet light. For spaces with significant sun exposure—such as open carports, patios, or areas with large windows—we recommend and apply a UV-resistant polyaspartic or urethane topcoat.
  • How do I clean and maintain a coated floor?

Routine maintenance is straightforward. Regular sweeping removes dirt and abrasive particles, while periodic mopping with a neutral pH cleaner or warm water mixed with mild dish soap keeps the surface clean. Harsh acidic cleaners and citrus-based solvents should be avoided.
  • How long will a professional floor coating last?

When installed by professionals and maintained correctly, a quality resin coating system can perform for decades in residential applications, significantly outlasting DIY products or conventional floor paints available at retail stores.
  • Do you offer a warranty on your workmanship and materials?

We provide a comprehensive warranty that covers our installation quality and materials, including protection against peeling, delamination, and defects in manufacturing.
